Shakespeare Corrected is a volunteer-based arts program offered at Decatur Correctional Center in Decatur, IL. It is now in its sixth year and continues to improve in quality every year. The current model of the nine month program is to build skills through monologues and discussion in the fall, and then to produce a full scale Shakespeare play in the spring. Although cut down from the Folio versions, the productions are about ninety minutes, performed for friends, family, and other inmates.
The program works in partnership with Millikin University, which sends students to work with the ladies in a rehearsal or design setting.
